Crafts of Angus
At the beginning of 2006 the Angus Crafts Association began negotiations with the National Trust of Scotland. The aim was to renovate the Stable Block at the House of Dun to create a retail outlet for the members of the Angus Crafts Association where each member retained control of their own product. After much hard work, what had been a dusty old storeroom was transformed into a modern retail environment. The fabric of the Stable Block still remains and there are still many quirks within the shop to remind us of the original use of the building. The Crafts of Angus Showcase and Shop was born. Each year there are 15-20 full-time members displaying their unique hand-made goods within the shop. We also have a roster of specially invited guests displaying work on a monthly basis. Sometimes a guest will be invited from outwith the Angus area if we are particularly impressed by their work and we feel they would compliment the existing products on sale in the shop, but mostly what you see available in the shop is handmade with care right here in Angus. We are very proud of what we have achieved here. We believe we are a unique crafting cooperative and many of our visitors have been impressed by our ethos and determination to succeed. |
